FAQ’s About Central NJ Wedding & Newborn Photographer Services

FAQ’s About Central NJ Wedding & Newborn Photographer Services:

Imagery By Marianne is a service-based boutique portrait and wedding photography studio based out of central New Jersey dedicated to providing clients with an incredible experience from inquiry to product delivery. I feel that it is so important for you to find a photographer who is the perfect fit for you….that can deliver a stunning portfolio of moments and emotions captured in time that reflect your individual personalities and reflect your love for one another. I tailor all of my products and services to bring your unique images full circle, into stunning displays to grace the walls of your home.

I do this by first and foremost, having a pre-session consultation. After you book your portrait session with me (pay your deposit and sign the contract) we will either meet in person or speak on the phone to discuss what you and/or your family should wear for your session based on the location chosen for the session and your home decor and personal style, where the final images will be displayed.

Q: Will you be our photographer?

A: When you book Imagery By Marianne for your wedding or newborn session you are booking me, Marianne, along with my unique team of professionals. In the rare event that I am unable to capture your session/event, due to a severe illness or injury, an appropriate substitute will be provided to take my place. (This has never happened in 8 years.)

My additional photographers and assistants are hired about 2 months prior to your wedding date from a list that I have created over the last 8 years of my favorite peers in the field. They are hand selected by me because they are capable of resembling my personal shooting style and they are a pleasure for me to work with from my past experiences of working with them. This is an important part of my business because my team is a reflection of myself and my brand so I take a lot of care when selecting my team for your event.

Q: Who does your team consist of?

I typically work with a “team” on any given wedding day (unless creating a custom package) because I feel that I can give you the very best service and attention when an assistant is present. My Wedding Experience collection includes a 2nd photographer and an assistant to help me capture your event from different perspectives. Anyone that is brought to work for me has a responsibility and job to do and I try to keep this to a minimum so we can stay unobtrusive and in the shadows.

At engagement and portrait sessions, an assistant will be scheduled to come along on a case by case basis to help me if I feel that it is necessary.

Q: Why does your Wedding Experience collection include a 2nd photographer and an assistant?

I include both of these team members into my Wedding Experience collection because they are considered part of the boutique Wedding Experience service that I am providing to all of my wedding clients. First and foremost, I can’t be everywhere at the same time and I like to be as unobtrusive as possible, especially during a wedding ceremony. I want to be a ninja, move around and get lots of different angles of the ceremony without being seen too much. I love having another photographer capturing a different angle of the day for me. Having 2 perspectives of the day unfolding really gives you a complete story of the day. Wedding coverage with two photographers is ideal for clients that would like to create an album as a final product for that completion of the story because you will not only get the beginning of the day told from the bride/s perspective but also from the groom’s which is really awesome when they are displayed together.

Q: What is your photographic style?

My photographic style is a mixture of editorial and documentary styles. I love curating the look of your images to your personal taste/liking or your wedding day vision. I also like to take a step back and let events naturally unfold when I can to capture raw emotion in your images. I do walk clients through where the best light is in each location/scenerio (For instance, if the bride is getting dressed with her bridesmaids in a dark hotel room, I will instruct them to face their bodies towards the window so I have the best light on their faces as they get ready.) Simple adjustments and instructions go a long way when creating amazing images. Most of the time, my instructions are as basic as turning your body a certain way while doing the motion or action that you were already doing. A little coaching goes a long way and that is a service that you receive when working with me and my team.

Q: How do we create a timeline for our wedding day?

A: I will walk you through the entire process of planning your wedding day timeline. If you hire a coordinator or planner, I will work with them as well to ensure that I have the proper amount of time for each component of your day. At the consultation, I can visually show you how much time it takes me to photograph each aspect of your day. I always buffer in extra time throughout the day so if there is something that runs behind schedule, we can easily make up for it and get back on track with the timeline. When dealing with so many moving parts, it is important to have an experienced wedding photographer working for you that knows how to create and implement a proper wedding day timeline under pressure along with ever changing environments, weather and natural light.

Q: We live far away, do we have to meet with you in order to book?

A: No, I can email you all of the information that you would need in order to sign the portrait or wedding photography digital contract and I will send you my address to mail payments to. If it is easier for you to pay me by credit card via Paypal, you may do so but there is a processing fee of 3%. To do so, please let me know that you would like to make a payment by credit card and I will adjust the invoice and send you the new invoice with your balance. Please send me an email and I will set it all up for you. Want to chat first? I can FACETIME or SKYPE with you in the evenings during the week. I have booked several couples without meeting them in person but I love getting to see my clients faces before the big day.

Q: We love your work! How do we book the date?

A: All I need to book your portrait or wedding date is an email from you with your full names, current addresses, phone numbers, venue locations (addresses as well) and approximate amount of photography coverage you would like and I will send you the portrait or wedding photography contract via email. The contract is electronic and will be sent to you through my studio software. Once you digitally sign the contract, you may either pay the retainer to hold your date by sending me a check through the mail or by paying via credit card through my software but there is a processing fee for paying with a credit card so please let me know if that is your preference so I can adjust the invoice and turn on the online payment system for you. I prefer a check through the mail to avoid any of these processing fees. Once I receive your signed contract & deposit, your date will be officially booked in my calendar and we can start getting to know one another and start working on your timeline.

Q: How can we ensure you take pictures of all of our family & friends?

A: About 1 month before the wedding date, you will receive a wedding day photography questionnaire from me. This questionnaire will ask typical questions about where and when the bride and groom (if applicable) will be getting ready, asking for emergency contacts (usually the MOH & BM’s cell phone numbers) and asks about particular images that you would like me to take. This list is just for precaution. Although no image is guaranteed, I do try to follow a guideline so we all stay on track throughout the day and do not forget a really important image. I also always confirm before I leave the reception that we have gotten all of the must have shots before I pack up my equipment.

Q: How long will it take before we see our images?

A: Weddings: I love posting a favorite picture or sneak peak of your images as soon after the big day as I can, but you will receive your fully edited online gallery of your wedding day photos within 6 weeks after your wedding date. In the summer months, the turn around time can be on the longer side based on the volume of work the studio is doing. In other instances, you might be surprised with an much earlier turn around time.

B. Portraits: You will receive your fully edited gallery of images from the session within 2 weeks from your session date at a scheduled, ordering session that is booked at the time of your session. You may reschedule the ordering session if needed, but you will not see any of the images form the session until you come in for an ordering session. At the ordering session, you will receive a discount incentive for ordering at your ordering session. If you do not choose to order anything at your session, you will pay the minimum product purchase cost and receive access to the online gallery of images and will have 14 days from then to place your order. You will be given the minimum purchase cost in a store credit to be used when placing your final order.

Q: Are the images in my online gallery that I received proofs?

A: Weddings: All of the images that you receive in your online gallery (for an engagement session about 30-50 and for a wedding about 500-800) are fully edited and ready to print, but you will need access from me to download them. Engagement images can be downloaded directly from the gallery.

Because I deliver so many wedding day images, I have to save them down to low resolution for web viewing so the images that you download to share from the gallery are already resized for web/social sharing. Once you have approved all of the images the way that they are in the online gallery, I will send you the high resolution, print ready versions of the wedding day image via USB through the mail. You will also have the option to purchase prints, canvases and other products directly from the online gallery if you choose to do so.

B: Portraits: The online gallery (for a portrait session about 30-50 and for a family about 75-100) are fully edited and shown to you for the first time at your ordering session that is scheduled at the time of your portrait session. At the ordering session, you are given a TODAY ONLY discount  of 15% off any products that you purchase before you leave my office. Once you have seen all of the images at the ordering session and paid the minimum purchase requirement fee, you will receive access to the online gallery for additional ordering purposes. You will have 14 days from the date of your ordering session to make any final purchases at full price. If you purchase the entire gallery of images, you will also receive a USB drive from me through the mail for archiving/safekeeping.

If you would like to order the prints yourself, I highly recommend www.mpix.com, they are wonderful at printing the images as they are seen onscreen.

Q: When and How do we receive our digital images?

A: You can choose to have your images delivered: via a downloadable link or USB. If you live close to me, I would be happy to drop them off for you.

Q: Do I get to choose all my album photos?

A: I will ask you to choose 20-30 MUST HAVE images and I will fill in the gaps. My designer will design your album with all the details and memories strung together in the best possible way. You will then be able to request that we swap images out and make any final adjustments before I place the album order. You are provided with two free rounds of revisions and afterward, there is an additional fee for additional revisions.

Q: How do I order products from you?

A: Weddings: You may order products directly from your online viewing/proofing gallery or you may email me for assistance. Some products require more information or a proof approval before the product can me made. Please email me with any questions that you may have. You can view my product guide here.

Q: How long will it take to receive my final products: albums, canvases, etc…?

A: Once the designs are approved by you, it may take anywhere from 2-8 weeks, depending on the product ordered and the manufacturer that I use to fulfill the order. Some companies only take a few days to turn around a product and others take a little longer. I use only the best, high-end quality products and some of them are produced in other countries. One in particular is in Italy and they do take a few weeks to receive because they have to make their way through customs.

Q: Are you insured?

A: Yes, Imagery By Marianne is fully insured with 1 million dollars in property, general liability & errors & omissions coverage. If a church and/or venue is requesting a certificate of coverage, please let me know as soon as possible and I will make arrangements for my insurance carrier to send the certificate to your church and/or venue. I also have an indemnification trust fund offered through PPA (Professional Photographers of America) that assists professionals with issues that might arise when a client is not happy with the professionals service or if there is a technical issue that a client should be reimbursed for. (Faulty equipment, hard drive failure, etc…)
